# TanStarter Docs MCP

TanStarter serves a public [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io)
endpoint at `https://tanstarter.dev/mcp`. It uses Streamable HTTP, does not require
a login or API key, and searches only the published documentation at
[docs.tanstarter.dev](https://docs.tanstarter.dev/).

## Tool

The server exposes one tool, `search_docs`.

| Argument | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | Yes | Search text, from 1 to 200 characters |
| `limit` | No | Maximum pages to return. Defaults to 5, maximum 8 |
| `locale` | No | `en` (default) or `zh` |

Each result includes the page title, the public path, the canonical docs URL
(for example `https://docs.tanstarter.dev/ai`), a short excerpt, and locale.

`search_docs` does not return application source, account data, environment
variables, checkout flows, or unpublished content.

Local development serves the same route at `http://localhost:3005/mcp`.
